Position Title: Data Engineer

Location: Arlington, VA

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with the ability to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure the availability and quality of data for analysis and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

*60-80% onsite requirement

  • Data Pipeline Development:
    • Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of data from various sources.
    • Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Data Integration:
    • Integrate data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, and third-party systems, into a centralized data warehouse.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions.
  • Data Modeling and Architecture:
    • Develop and optimize data models and schemas to support analytical and operational needs.
    • Ensure data architecture is aligned with industry best practices and supports future scalability.
  • Data Quality and Governance:
    • Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
    • Contribute to data governance initiatives, including data cataloging and documentation.
  • Performance Optimization:
    • Monitor and optimize data pipeline performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and issues.
    • Implement best practices for data security and privacy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions such as Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, or Google BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Understanding of data modeling and ETL processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
